Can I participate in the internship program without taking classes?
No, it is necessary to attend at least 2 weeks of classes in either our Professional English Program course of 20 hours/week or 30hours/week.
Is there a minimum or maximum time requirement for the internship?
The recommended length of time for an internship is three to four months. The minimum for placement in an internship is four weeks. There is no standard maximum length for an internship, but internships of longer than one year will not be arranged.
How much notice is needed if I wish to participate in an internship?
The required documents (Resume, Questionnaire and Agreement) and the placement fee must be received 8 weeks prior to your desired start date. If you are applying for the program from outside of USA, you may need at least 12 weeks prior to your desired start date considering F1 Visa processing period. Please follow the Agent's instruction in your home country.
Where are your internships located?
All of our internships are located within the New York City area.
Am I guaranteed an internship?
An internship is guaranteed as long as all of the guidelines outlined in the internship agreement are met including minimum language level. We do not, however, guarantee internship placement in specific fields.
Can I receive payment for my participation in the internship program?
No, all participants in the English and Internship Program are completely non-compensated.
Will I be offered permanent employment at the host company at the end of the internship?
No, your host company is not required to offer a permanent employment opportunity upon completion of your internship.
Can I choose my Internship Sponsor Company?
No, assignment of specific interviews for placement is solely the responsibility of Rennert Bilingual, and is subject to the needs and hiring policies of the Host Company.
Will I receive the name of my Internship Sponsor Company before I arrive in New York?
No. The internship placement is dependent upon your performance at an interview with the prospective Sponsor Company. This interview must be made in person, while you are in New York.
Can I work in my field of specialty?
Interning in your field is possible but not guaranteed. As participants in the Executive Internship Program have significant education and relevant experience in a given specialty, placement in their field is more likely. The primary purpose of both Executive and Junior Internships is for English language experience, and this is the primary consideration when placing students.
Is a University degree needed to participate in the internship program?
A graduate degree and/or at least five years of relevant work experience are necessary for the Executive Internship Program. A University degree is not necessary for the Junior Internship program.
What happens if I register for the internship program, but do not meet all of the requirements?
If the minimum requirements for the internship program are not met, such as the minimum level of English competency, Rennert Bilingual cannot be held responsible. Internship Program Coordinator may recommend an additional period of time for which the student may extend taking English classes in order to better prepare for the internship. Rennert Bilingual will arrange a reasonable number of interviews for a prospective intern, but it is the student's responsibility to perform adequately at the interview.
The placement fee is not refundable.
What happens if I wish to quit my internship?
When you accept an internship, you have committed to work for a specific period of time (4 weeks minimum). If you decide to leave your internship early, you have decided to discontinue your time as a student at our school. Our sponsorship of your visa (if applicable) will be terminated and you may jeopardize your visa status in the United States.
Will Rennert Bilingual arrange my accommodations for the duration of my internship?
Accommodations will be provided for the duration of your enrollment in English classes. However, during your participation in the internship program, homestays will not be available and residence halls may only be available for the first 4 weeks of your internship depending on choice of residence and space availability. However, CareerUP New York may help your accommodation arrangement.
